Ipoh Food Map: places to eat within walking distance of D Eastern

Within about 1 km on foot you can reach Ipoh's best-known food. There is bean sprout chicken at Lou Wong and dim sum on Jalan Leong Sin Nam, both about 300–450 m away. The night market at Gerbang Malam is about 290 m away. The white coffee kopitiams of Old Town are about 10 minutes' walk.

Ipoh is a food town, and much of its best-known eating is close together. From D Eastern Hotel on Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, the New Town eateries (bean sprout chicken, dim sum and the night market) are about 300–450 m away. The Old Town kopitiams are about a 10-minute walk, and Little India is about 15 minutes.

Distances below are straight-line estimates from OpenStreetMap coordinates, so the walk will be a little longer. Opening hours change often, especially rest days. We give hours only where a recent source confirms them. Please check before you set out.

There is no restaurant or breakfast in the hotel. Restoran Malaysia Raya is right next door, about 9 m away.

  • Sankra Restaurant, Jalan Sultan Yussuf. Curries, rice dishes and fusion plates, with vegetarian options. Opening hours change, so check its Facebook page before you go.

Notes and changes

  • Lou Wong moved across the street in March 2026. Older maps and blogs may still show the former shop.
  • Many kopitiams take one rest day a week, and it varies. Weekend mornings bring the longest queues.
