Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (IPH) to Ipoh city: Grab, taxi and bus
Ipoh's Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (IPH) is about 3.7 km from D Eastern Hotel. Grab is the easiest way into town: the ride takes about 10–15 minutes and the app shows the fare before you book (checked Nov 2026). Taxis usually cost more, and a city bus runs to Medan Kidd. D Eastern does not run an airport shuttle.
Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (IPH) is on the southern edge of Ipoh, about 3.7 km from the hotel. A Grab takes about 10–15 minutes in normal traffic, and the app shows the fare before you confirm. Taxis are available but usually cost more.
There is no hotel shuttle. D Eastern does not run an airport shuttle, whatever some booking listings say. Please plan on Grab, a taxi or the bus.
How much is a Grab from Ipoh airport?
Grab is the usual choice for one to four people.
- Fare: the app shows the price before you book, and it rises at busy times. It is a short ride, but we could not find a recent reliable figure, so check the app when you land.
- Time: about 10–15 minutes in normal traffic (checked Nov 2026). Allow longer at rush hour.
- Pick-up: Trip.com's 2026 guide says pick-up is just outside the terminal.
You need mobile data to book the ride in the app, so sort out a SIM or roaming before you land.
Are there taxis at Ipoh airport?
Yes, but check availability when you land.
- Fare: expect to pay more than Grab. Guides don't agree on the amount, so agree the price with the driver before you set off.
- Availability: a 2024 local guide says taxis wait at the airport. If you land late or want certainty, Grab is usually the simpler option.
Is there a bus from the airport into Ipoh?
There is a city bus, but a local guide doesn't recommend it because it has no direct stops.
- Route: Perak Transit's BAS.MY route A37 (Medan Kidd – Ipoh airport – Taman Botani; formerly T37) serves the airport and runs to Medan Kidd, the local bus station.
- Frequency: BAS.MY says its main Ipoh routes run about every 30–60 minutes. Check the BAS.MY app for times on the day.
From Medan Kidd it is about 1.2 km (straight line) to Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, about a 16-minute walk.
How long does it take from the airport to the city centre?
By car or Grab, about 10–15 minutes in normal traffic (checked Nov 2026). Scheduled flights are Scoot from Singapore (up to three a day) and AirAsia from Johor Bahru (Senai, about one or two a day) (checked Nov 2026).
